I believe that as humans, we don’t exist in isolation – we are deeply connected to the world and the people around us. Our relationships shape us, and we are in a constant exchange with our environment. My approach is rooted in both humanistic and psychodynamic counselling. I believe that we all have an innate ability to heal, grow, and adapt, even in the face of life’s challenges. With the right support and environment, this natural capacity can emerge and guide us forward.
Part of the therapeutic work involves finding comfortable words to express your life story and making sense of it. When we look into ourselves with curiosity, kindness and openness, we begin to see areas of the self formerly hidden. We can gain a new understanding of how significant relationships and events shaped who we are and why they did so. New patterns of relating to yourself and others can then emerge, which can move you towards a more meaningful and a more authentic way of living.
My therapeutic style involves an attitude of warm acceptance of who you already are. I see our relationship as a collaborative partnership, a joint effort. In the safety of this co-created space, we can both adopt an attitude of openness to being changed by the other in multiple, often unseen, ways.
This requires a deep mutual commitment and patience with yourself and with the – sometimes challenging – process of finding home within. The therapeutic relationship will be central to our work and will act as a pillar for your growth. I believe that it is the relationship that heals – being a human being first, therapist second.
In our work together, I will welcome you with openness and humility – recognising that my perspective is limited, that I don’t have all the answers, and that we might learn something from each other.
An integrative approach
As an integrative counsellor I recognise individual uniqueness and that there is no one size fits all. I draw from several counselling theories (humanistic, psychoanalytic, systemic), which I aim to adapt to each individual, in accordance with their therapeutic needs.

I believe that the humanistic core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and authenticity as must-haves in order to create trust and a safe space to open up to each other.
I interweave concepts from existential philosophy, attachment theory, transactional analysis and also cognitive and systemic thinking to enhance my work.

At times we may choose to use various mediums, such as papers and colours, or objects from inside or outside the room, to voice and shape those feelings otherwise difficult to put into words.
I adopt equality, diversity and inclusion as the foundation of my practice, and aim to see each individual in their own unique context – including culture, religion, gender, age or sexual orientation. I recognise that these areas intersect and form our identity, together with other characteristics, such as relationship and socio-economic status.
If you would like to find out how I may be able to support you, or if you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch.
